Welcome to the Signal Showcase section, which gives practitioners the opportunity to showcase their projects. If you have worked on a signalised installation which you feel demonstrates best practice, innovation or you think would be of interest to others, then please send us some photo's along with your details, the site name, the local highway authority and a brief description of the aspect which you are proud of.

Signal Showcase

Herbhajan Hira has sent in these pictures of an unusual diagonal pedestrian crossing in Burnt Oak, London. The facilities across the junction arms and the diagonals are all equipped with pedestrian push-buttons and far-side signals.

Daniel Ward of Hampshire County Council has sent in this picture of a TOUCAN crossing in Basingstoke that illustrates the advantages of the use of a "reverse" stagger on a split crossing. It can be seen that users waiting on either side, cannot see the pedestrian indicators on the opposite side of the road, and will not cross due to seeing the greenman displayed on the far-side of the crossing. Safety auditors often comment that they have concerns regarding the fact that pedestrians will have their backs to approaching traffic whilst on the central island, when utilising a reverse stagger design.

Mark Wedgewood from Ipswich Borough Council has sent in these pictures of a "heritage" installation in Carr Street, Ipswich, which is currently undergoing refurbishment. Apparently dating from the 1940's, this ornate wall bracket now needs refurbishment or replacement.
